SafeHouse
Raffle Update: Raffle Quilts are now Fundraiser Quilts! We’ve given up
our pursuit of a raffle license from the State in favor of a more innovative approach. Instead of selling raffle tickets,
we’re going to collect checks made out to SafeHouse. For every $10 donated, your name will go into a drawing (e.g.
for a $10 donation your name will be entered once; for a $100 donation your name will be entered 10 times).
We’ll
collect checks right up to the beginning of the November Quilt Day meeting; checks must be received by 9am for contributors
to be included in the drawing. We’ll keep a list of all entries as well as a running total. Entry slips will be
put in a bin and we will pull names for the first, second and third place quilts at November Quilt Day.
Advantages:
- No raffle tickets to sell!
- Unlike raffle tickets, a check made out to SafeHouse is tax deductible!
- No
cost for the license, printing tickets, or booth fees!
- Greater chance to win!
Rules:- Checks should be made out to SafeHouse.
- Any amount will help SafeHouse, but checks must be a minimum of
$10 to win a quilt.
- Need not be present to win, but all checks should include a telephone number so we can
contact the winner.
- Need not be a guild member to submit a check and enter your name in the drawing.
- Checks
should be mailed to the guild’s (new) PO Box.
GAAQG PO Box
131272 Ann Arbor, MI 48113-1272 - Checks will not be held until the November drawing;
they will be forwarded to SafeHouse in a timely manner.
- Checks received after the drawing will be forwarded to SafeHouse.
Member
responsibilities:- We printed 6000 raffle tickets each year and averaged sales of $3500, or 3500 tickets
at $1 each. Each member was responsible for selling one book of 10 tickets.
- Each member is responsible for securing
at least $10 dollars in donations. If the $10 is not in your budget, please raise at least $10 from friends or family.
