The Greater Ann Arbor Quilt Guild proudly presents Quilting Unlimited 2011, at Washtenaw Community College in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the weekend of July 29 - 31, 2011.

Quilting Unlimited 2011 is almost here! A few last minute things you should be aware of......

  • Anyone who has not picked up their nametag (which includes their class schedule) can pick it up in the hospitality room in the Morris Lawrence Building at WCC. The hospitality room will be in room 101. Pickup is any morning beginning at 8:00 a.m.
  • Classes meet from 9:00 a.m. to noon and 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Kit fees are payable to the instructor in class. Class supply lists are on the web page of each individual class.
  • Class locations are available on line. Click on the "Class Location" link to find your class location. Room numbers that start with "ML" are held in the Morris Lawrence Building; room numbers that start with LA are held in the Crane Liberal Arts Building. Go to http://www4.wccnet.edu/search/roomlocator/ for the college room locator.
  • For classes in Morris Lawrence, ML, enter off of Huron River Drive, the first entrance north of Clark Road, and park in parking areas 1 or 2. For classes in Crane Liberal Arts, LA, enter off of Clark Road, just west of Huron River Drive, and park in parking areas 6 or 7. Look for Liz's volunteers to help guide you to your classrooms.
  • Lunches will be served in the Morris Lawrence Building lobby/atrium between noon and 1:30. We will have door prizes and show-and-tell during lunchtime, so come prepared to share! And be sure to bring your nametag; we will use your student number to draw the door prizes.
  • Dinners are held at the Holiday Inn at 6:30.
  • Morris Lawrence 101 will be the hospitality room. If you have questions, that would be the place to look for the answers. We'll have a lost and found in the room in case you get separated from any of your belongings or find someone else's belongings. The teachers will also be displaying some of their work. Be sure to stop and take a look sometime during the weekend. There will be a limited amount of hand-dyed fabric which can be purchased for a small donation to SafeHouse. Finally, there will be limited sewing space, available on a first-come basis, in case you're without a class to go to.

Join us for a weekend of unlimited learning, unlimited friendships and unlimited fun!  A wide selection of classes allows you to sharpen your skills or venture off into a new area and try something new.  And if you can only join us for one day, or two days, that is completely acceptable.  Of course, the recommendation, to get the maximum benefit,  is for a full weekend of classes!

To feel like you're really getting away from it all, consider getting a room at the Holiday Inn.  We have a block of rooms reserved at the rate of $89 per night.  Be close to all the action and feel like you've really gotten away for a vacation!

Three lunches and two dinners are will be offered.  The lunch cost is $10, and lunch will be served at the college.  The dinner cost, entertainment included, will be $20, and dinner will be held at the hotel.

What would a gathering of quilters be without show-and-tell?  At each lunch, we will have a show-and-tell session.  Whether it's a class project you worked on yesterday or something you've brought from home, we'd love to have you share!

Our evening meals come complete with entertainment, too.  On Friday night we will have our guild fashion show.  If you can wear it, it's fashion!  Consider showing off your handmade garments/accessories.  Usually members model their own garments, but if you would like to provide someone else to model your garment for you, that's fine, too.  Make plans to join us --and participate -- in this fun event!

Saturday night's dinner will include a slideshow lecture, titled Evolution of a Quiltmaker, by Suzanne Marshall.  Suzanne will show slides of her quilts, from her early attempts to the latest prize-winning quilts.  The lecture will include inspiration for the quilts as well as comments and critiques, both positive and negative, from contest judges.

Finally, we will have an instructor quilt show.  Each of our instructors will offer a piece of their work to display.  Make sure you take the time to check it out.

Please review the stuff to know page.  It will give you a link to information such as dates to keep in mind, basic sewing supplies needed, our refund policy, a map of the college and directions to the college.

If you have any questions, please contact Christa Hitchcock, QU 2011 Chairperson.
