Construction Guidelines
- Make sure the quilt is 60 x 80 inches (TWIN), or LARGER
- Design for masculine, feminine,
or neutral.
- Use sturdy fabrics & good thread.
- If you are tying the quilt, use strong
methods. "Machine tacks" may be preferable to "hand tying" so that little fingers don't get caught
in a tie's loop.
- Plan for the quilt to endure hugging, tugging, and frequent washing. (Don't
attach small items that might be a choking hazard to toddlers.)
- Be sure to donate quilts throughout
the year!
- Before your turn-in day, check for stray pins, needles, or loose threads.
- On or before donating: Obtain GAAQG fabric label & sew onto reverse side of quilt. (GAAQG labels
must be sewn on each donated item as part of GAAQG's reporting to IRS.)
- You can print your
own GAAQG fabric labels by ironing a piece of muslin to an 8.5"x11" sheet of freezer paper and then printing these
and cutting them out. Please peel the paper off before sewing to the quilt. (Click here for file containing 6 labels.)
- Show quilt during Guild Meeting & leave for Guild's
Safe House volunteers collecting them - or - leave completed portion / finished quilt on Safe House table before or after
Guild meeting - or - call SH volunteer listed in GAAQG Newsletter for help.
- For those who itemize
on their tax returns, receipts for charity donations are available from GAAQG.
