Congratulations to Marilyn Knepp, Debbie Grifka, Lucinda Herring and Carol Makielski for receiving the greatest appreciation of the viewers of GAAQG’s 2020 Celebrate the Quilts from Home show!

Marilyn Knepp’s quilt,”FREADom, received  viewer’s choice first place. The quilt was made as a retirement gift for a friend’s mother who was a librarian.

Debbie Grifka’s quilt “Notre Dame,” placed second. A visit to the Paris cathedral, with its vaulted arches, was the spark of creation for the quilt. It is currently on exhibition through Jan. 10 at the Schweinfurth Art Center. The center has a virtual tour of the exhibition at:

Third place for viewers’ favorites were tied with “Beach Glass,” by Lucinda Herring and “Eclipse 2019,” by Carol Makielski.

Lucinda’s quilt was a part of the Rescue 9-1-1 special exhibit of the quilt show. The quilt is at home on her bed, a daily inspiration for her ongoing antique and vintage quilt rescues.

Carol’s “Eclipse 2019,” was a collaboration with her husband Chip.  It was inspired by an eclipse and finding the perfect piece of fabric in her stash to connect to this natural event.

Again, thank you to all the voters, members who entered the show and generous volunteers, who made our 2020 quilt show happen. Thank you many times over to:   Mary Beth Donovan, Susan Schwandt, Kathy Johnson, and Anne Bednar.
