Do you have scraps?

Ha! That was a joke, because I know that we all have tons of scraps! Using them up is a problem and Jean Coleman wants to help us out. Here is her message:

Hi folks:
About a year and a half ago, I started looking for ways to use up those fabrics in my stash I figured would never end up in a quilt. I went to Pinterest and found lots of options and played with a few of them. Some used a muslin foundation, which stays in your quilt, adding extra weight. Some used phone book pages or coffee filters or tear away paper, all of which had to be removed before finishing your quilt, which takes extra time. I wanted to work more quickly and just get it done.

So I have come up with my technique for quick and easy stripping which I will be demonstrating before and after the meeting on November 18. Mary Beth is going to post in the Safe House Patterns section of our Guild my directions and some patterns you can make up using these strips. I will have several quilts on display that have been made using my stripping method. I hope you will stop in before or after the meeting to see how I do it.

We all know that Jean is a very experienced quilter and her directions and patterns are very well explained. Jean’s patterns are now posted on our ‘Quilt for SafeHouse’ page (scroll down to ‘Patterns’). These are PDF files and be sure to check out the pictures! This is a great opportunity to see her demo some great ideas for using up those scraps! Get to the meeting early or stay late, she will demo both times. You will not regret it!
