In this workshop, Joe Cunningham demonstrates and teaches how to develop a small idea into an abstract quilt. Along the way he includes the techniques he uses for freehand piecing, working with bias tape and creating memorable compositions. Students will develop their own designs and get them to a point where they can be completed. With step-by-step exercises carefully designed to help quilters try something new, this workshop opens the door to infinite possibilities. No two quilts will look alike. The above quilts are for example only, and while they employ the techniques used in the class, they are not meant to illustrate a project.
Workshops are open to both guild members and non-guild members. Because the cost of the workshops is subsidized by members’ dues, non-members are asked to pay an additional $20 per workshop. Non-members are able to register for a workshop approximately two months prior to the workshop. Workshop registration policy.
