Lecture by Sujata Shah: CULTURAL FUSION QUILTS

In Sujata Shah’s lecture “Cultural Fusion Quilts,” she will share how she connects the dots between her memories of the past, and today’s creative process.  “While growing up in India, rich colors, hand woven textiles and hand-crafts were part of my daily life.  I learned to appreciate the irregularities and imperfections of handmade crafts.  My instinctive ability to work with colors and textures, combined with education in graphic design, has helped me develop a unique style as a quilt designer.  Inspired by the irregularities and imperfections of utilitarian quilts and handmade crafts from around the world, I developed abstract forms of traditional quilt blocks and subsequently published the book, Cultural Fusion Quilts. The presentation includes a slide show of my travels in India and my journey as a quilter, followed by a trunk show of original quilts from my book.“

This lecture follows the business meeting on Quilt Day.

Following the Quilt Day Meeting, a Garage Sale will take place.
