Nature Printing on Fabric

Appropriate level:  Beginner–Advanced

Due to the popularity of this class, non-members are asked to contact the VP of Programs to be added to a waiting list.

Collaborate with Jane Davila and Mother Nature!

Jane will show you how to create fabrics using leaves, fruits, vegetables and even the sun. Surface design techniques covered include: gyotaku (fish printing); leaf and produce printing; UV reactive dyes, & heliographic imaging (sun printing). Explore the possibilities of printing on fabric using acrylic and transparent paints with forms from nature.

See how these original fabrics can be used in finished products like quilts from traditional to modern to art, and home décor items. All printing and painting methods use easy-to-find supplies, non-toxic and water-soluble paints and inks, and environmentally friendly techniques.
