Appropriate level: Beginning and advanced, traditional and art quilters
Class description:
Learn tips and tricks that make working small easier. Lynn Carson Harris will show you how to piece tiny stars and other small blocks as well as small scale intuitive piecing.
With Lynn’s tips for working small, you will be able to add a bit of tiny sparkle to your own modern quilt designs or make your own quilt completely from tiny blocks like on the cover of Lynn’s book, Every Last Piece.
Visit Lynn’s gallery to see examples of how you can apply her miniature techniques to your modern, traditional and art quilts.
Please note there is a $ 5 kit fee optional payable at the start of the workshop. Kit includes thin thread and pre-cut one inch squares to try out in class or at home.
Note – Lynn will have her books available for purchase at the class.

Registration
Workshops are open to both guild members and non-guild members. Because the cost of the workshops is subsidized by members’ dues, non-members are asked to pay an additional $20 per workshop. Non-members will be able to register for all 2019 workshops after December 1, 2018. Workshop registration policy.
Members: $60 + $2 credit card processing fee
Non-Members: $80 + $2.65 credit card processing fee
Online registration is available for both members and non-members. (If you prefer to write a check and mail in your workshop registration, please download our printable form.)

Lecture by Lynn Carson Harris:
“Do it for the Process”
Lecture Description: Lynn will share some of her quilts and talk about her journey from the first quilt she made as a teenager in 1976 to her current work. She has found that the steps of making a quilt are often more meaningful to her than the completed quilt. Focusing on the creative process rather than the finished product allows her time in the studio to be filled with play and discovery.
This lecture follows the business meeting on Quilt Day.

Class description:
When using solids, the emphasis is put on the shape of each piece of fabric, according to Lynn Carson Harris. The lines and shapes become the focus of the quilt rather than the print of a fabric. The mood of the quilt is set by your piecing and color choice, not by a style of print. Working with free-form, improvisational construction, students will create their own original quilts using easy to learn design concepts and techniques. Check out Lynn’s gallery for inspiration!
Note – Lynn will have her book available for purchase, but it’s not required for the class. There are no pre-cutting requirements.
