Which Quilt Is Your Favorite? Vote for Your “Viewer’s Choice.”

Choosing the best, the most beautiful, most talented, most popular of anything is a based on many things. When it comes to making the choice among hundreds of beautiful, well made and varied in style quilts at a show……I find that impossible. I can’t do it. At least not when I can only choose one.
Yet, that is what we ask our quilt show viewers to do with this online quilt show and our usual in-person shows. Choose your favorite quilt of the show and submit your vote.
In order to promote participation and fellowship among quilters of all abilities, from its first quilt show presented in 1988, GAAQG chose not to have the quilts formally judged. Instead, everyone who browses through our show can vote on their personal choice.
Every guild has quilters with great talent, but there are also rising stars and beginners who were reluctant to enter. Hanging a quilt in a show represents an achievement, progress in quilt making, personal creative growth. Past show winners have included quilts by members entering the show for the first time, to quilters who have been making and entering quilts for many years.
Quilters who have entered their quilts in shows with professional judges have stories about the comments on their entries. Even when the workmanship on a quilt is nearly flawless, the comments made by judges can seem arbitrary. With a viewer’s choice ballot, there are no comments. No hurt feelings, less competitiveness, and equal footing for every quilt in a show.
Most quilters can recognize why the top quilts in shows win awards. There are stunners and quilts of sublimely simple design and those with intriguing construction. Viewer’s choice votes can represent a wide range of favorites. There are so many beautiful choices, lots of talent.
So, take another visual stroll through our quilt show. Choose a single favorite quilt, only one, make a note of the title and maker, click on the viewer’s choice ballot button, type in the title and maker’s name, and submit.
It’s an honor to win. The top three favorite quilts of the show will receive ribbons, be photographed with their quilts…..and be honored. Thanks to you!
