Annual GAAQG Fabric Sale Saturday, May 20!

Your volunteer fabric sorters. We spent three hours sorting and packing fabric and it was THRILLING! Pictured (left to right: Sonja Hagen, Roberta Myyra, Michelle Kennedy, Glenna Schweitzer and Carol Makielski. Susan Schwandt, photographer.

Hello, Quilt Friends!

Our annual Fabric Sale is on Quilt Day, Saturday, May 20, at the Morris Lawrence Building at the Washtenaw Community College campus. The sale opens after the business meeting and Michelle Jackson’s lecture. See Michelle’s website for inspiration before the sale.

We have some lovely donations! A lady in Ohio who used to work at a quilt shop passed a bit ago, and her son is dropping off the third (!) pickup truckload to me this week. Several members have been doing their Spring cleaning and we have added nicely to the inventory.

Heavenly homespuns
Scrumptious batiks! (representative)

In addition to the normal stuff, here’s a bit of a preview:

  • Lots of HOMESPUNS (yarn dyed wovens) that look so nice in Primitives. I bought a bunch last year and made a couple Rag Time couch quilts that my family (and dogs!) seem to like so much. There are also a bunch of precut batting squares if you can get to them early!
  • Two full bins of batiks!
  • A decent selection of yardages for backings.
  • Lots of Fat Quarters from every vintage!

Access to the sale won’t happen until the meeting is over and our esteemed President (and sale cashier for MANY years) Marge Venema lets us go.

As always, fabric is sold by volume. You know what you’ve put in your bag, so it is up to you to donate generously.  Proceeds from our Fabric Sale support our SafeHouse Center activities, such as the free batting and labels we supply members for their SafeHouse quilts.
